What’s University Good For?

January 24, 2012 Leave a comment

According to Virginia Postrel: “The skills that still matter are the habits of mind I honed in the classroom.”

And what does she put in this list of great “habits of mind”?

how to analyze texts carefully, how to craft and evaluate arguments, and how to apply microeconomic reasoning, along with basic literacy in accounting and statistics

Spot on. If you are afraid of majoring in something like art history, read the whole thing.

Team Performance on the Microeconomics Final

January 5, 2012 1 comment

Congrats to Team Kecoa, with a team average of 82 on the final! Second place went to Manchester (80). Third place was a tie between Martabak and Nameless (77 each).

These team scores won’t effect your individual grades. This is just for fun. Good work!
