Looking for Happiness? Or a Career? (Don’t Answer “Both”)

Here’s what passes for wise advice to students trying to settle on a career path: “Just find something you love and do it.”

Me…I really love watching old TV series and eating almost anything that involves a tortilla. Sadly, there are ZERO jobs out there seeking people with this passion.

Almost every job in the world–no matter how perfect the fit–will involve tedium. Few entry-level jobs will be interesting. Mr. Segovia is right: forget about passion. Stop being so self-absorbed. Find something worth doing, do it well, and you’re likely to come to love your work one day. And even if you don’t come to love it, at least you did something worthwhile.
